Helmingham hall
enjoyed this last year, I do feel £14.50 for me and family to get in with car is a bit steep as it is £19 if we go in the daily driver, not even a fiver discount! It doesnt seem to put many off as it was packed last year. Any thoughts on this debate?

Re: Helmingham hall
this caused quite a stir last year between members , a differance of opinion ,you must ask jake to see back copies of newsletters , quite a few wer upset by the way this event is run ,it seems to run to make a profit ,not shaw if a charity gets a cut ?? but you pay extra to park on the other side but you do get a cream tea , a eapc member upset a few lardy dars by puting a cortina in a row of rolls and astons and bentlys ,wich put a smile on my face , but why not they spent £1000s and a few years on a very mint and in my opinion better than factory car ,also a few had to take down wind breakers and gasibos (?) you know tent things . but it gets good numbers and its a good show , so the jury is out on this one .

Its probably me being a tight arse as it doesnt seem to put anyone else off. I would have been happier if it was 10 quid per car. Is it not our cars that they charge the public to come and see? no cars = no event, they should pay us to bring them

GO TO MILDENHALL - "NO ENTRY FEE" - "EVERYBODY WELCOME" - "NO SEGREGATION" - "ALL PROFITS GO TO CHARITY" (not just a very low percentage) "HELMINGHAM WAS FREE TO ENTER LAST YEAR IF YOU PARKED IN THE CLASSIC VEHICLE CAR PARK AND ENTERED BY A CERTAIN DATE" (so why have they started to charge this year? is it the year of the greedy bastards? they are not exactly losing money are they! without the exhibitors they would not have a show! I agree it's a large gathering of all makes and models, I remember when it was by invitation only and it was limited to around 50 motors, NOW FOR MY TIP OF THE YEAR - JOIN THE S V E C FOR £12 PER YEAR AND YOU GET INTO HELMINGHAM FOR FREE - TRUST ME, BEEN A MEMBER SINCE 1986 AND THE CROWN WHEEL CLUB BEFORE THAT (NAME CHANGE) 1976 - 1986 - FUCK ME I AM GETTING OLD - but I don't get ripped off to often. Free or not I am at Mildenhall at least they say "thanks for coming"
Really getting pissed off about this charging exhibitors crack - Euston £7 - Rougham £10 - Wings & Wheels Henham £5 - Fornham St. Martin £10 - Norfolk Gala £5 - and many more, time to call it a day soon me thinks!!!!!

Re: Helmingham hall
If it is a choice between the two I think mildenhall wins, I know its more in petrol but Helmingham is a bit snobby for me, lots of 60k+ cars, Im a bit more grass rootsbaz wrote:ahh mildenhall , that waz realy good last year , dirt bikes ,vintage stock cars lots of cars and yanks and auto jumble and in the stadium good carvery dinner and FREE and i won a trophy if my memory serves me right , i think it says best in show 2010

You won "Best in Show" the Monday after the show baz, the day you had it engraved, you also conned the organisers out of TWO glass plaques - you are a cheeky monkey baz - just behave yourself at Aldeburgh on Sunday Mr & Mrs C and Mr & Mrs K will not be there to keep an eye on everybody this year, at least nobody should be told to FUCK OFF cos you have'nt got a pass and you are not a y like our friend.
Mildenhall for me the Lord of the Manor will not get my money. Glad buick found his newsletter, the May one will be out soon!

Re: Helmingham hall
Just filled out my entry form for this and signed my £12 cheque, It was a bit of a job to decide which show to do because as always there's other shows on the same day, Duxford, the BL/BMC Rally at Peterborough and the Mildenhall event but in the end I decided on Helmingham as I've never shown a car there.
But why are shows like buses?, weeks and weeks of nothing then suddenly 3 turn up at once?!

I'll come and find you.
I've not entered but I've got an advert in the programme, I'll be mooching around

I am also a member of SVEC and EAPC, get a lot more events to choose from being a member of both clubs, and free entry to Helmingham.
Charghing to exhibit your car is wrong, if our cars were not on display most shows would not exist.

I'm in for Helmingham now.
I was in the events office handing over some folding for my advert in the programme (bloodyhopeitsworthit) and I got entered with me scimmy turd.
Its the only thing that (vaguely) works at the minute
Will have to get er indoors busy with the shake n vac and the chamois

Like you I am a member of both clubs and have been since the forming of both and they are some what different in many ways and I think thats good, but is it not wrong to give SVEC members free entry and EVERYBODY ELSE HAS TO PAY - talk about supporting the classic vehicle movement and try to make the movement stronger- I don't think this helps, enjoy Helmingham this year it might be drawing to a finale I hear - have a good day - I will at Mildenhall, FREE ENTRY FOR EVERYBODY:cheers:

Re: Helmingham hall
Pay to get in and they park you in a field of long grass and sheep shit. Then you can watch some posh nobber drive their Aston/bentley/6 month old ferrari thing down the drive way, and only hope they rip the sump off half way down.
That's after some old cock gives you attitude on the way in just cause your car's got a Ford badge on it
So Mildenhall for me, at least they appreciate you turning up and have a laugh when youur there.

Re: Helmingham hall
Now you must try and keep up - the SVEC members help to park the cars on site and like to advertise it is their "Annual Rally" so this year their members have been given free entry - I somehow feel this will be a one off, to be honest the Helmingham Hall Estates run the event and control the income and are really just using the SVEC for their own ends . This is so unfair as the members of the SVEC who help out before and on the day with the best intentions are really working for the Estate. You don't have to be that clever to work out how much money is taken in before and on the day, just look in the public car park and then add exhibitor payments - nice little earner - OK a donation is made to charity but this is only peanuts compared with the income
Hope that answers your question

Re: Helmingham hall
And I still didnt meet trigger, I saw the car but no owner everytime I walked past.
Wasn't as good a show as usual, dont know what was missing but Ive enjoyed previous shows more.
Doubt my 80 sovs advert in the programme was worth it as nobody had a programme, it wasnt clear where to go to buy a programme and there was nothing worth reading in the programme either.
