Jaguar made a good V12 - oops a bit to big for you maybe
Perkins & Gardiner made V8, V12, oops these run on that smelly stuff
Triumph - sorry their V8 was two four pots bolted together
Several more if you go back a few years - like the Railton Striaght Eight - you would be a bit to young to remember.
You carry on looking under your HOOD and I will carry on lifting my BONNET

Triumph v8 engines mostly got scrapped in favour of the rover lump which is actually a buick engine that they didnt want anymore, as for v12 jaguar they dont sound as good as a v8 and I suspect they are a lot more expensive to build than a chevy.

Re: Harmonic damper
I did not mention the so called Rover V8 for that very reason, don't think it was a case Buick no longer wanted the engine it was a case that they made lots of dollars selling a licence so Rover could built it in GB, Rover first used it in the P5 then P6 (know as the P5B/P6B) then the Range Rover but always had an over heat problem, I ran a P6B for many years but had to bolt on after market (Kenlow) fans to keep her cool - must agree you cannot match the sound of a V8 - whatever the make.
